BERHAMPUR: Security forces gunned down four suspected Maoists, including two women, following an exchange of fire in Sirla jungle in southern Odisha’s Kandhamal district early on Sunday, reports Hrusikesh Mohanty. Some security personnel also suffered injuries in the gun battle.
The identities of the deceased and their involvement in Maoist violence are being ascertained, said an officer. They are suspected to have belonged to the Bansadhara-Ghumusara-Nagabali division of the proscribed CPI-Maoist. “Firearms and ammunition, along with Maoist literature, were found at the gun battle site,” he added.
